Mother's Day Brunch, Live Auction to Benefit Children in Need
ATLANTA (April 13, 2004) - As many Atlantans honor their mothers on May 9,
the Georgia Alliance for Children will be raising awareness for youth who
may be denied the opportunity. The nonprofit organization will hold a
Mother's Day Brunch and live auction at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel to
support its efforts of advocating improvements across the state's juvenile
justice and child welfare systems.
The brunch will offer a deluxe buffet, and the live auction - emceed by Kiss
104.1's Marjorie Coley and Georgia Alliance for Children President Rick McDevitt
- will feature items sure to impress Mom, such as vacation packages, fine
jewelry and Philips Arena concert tickets.
Money raised will benefit the Georgia Alliance for Children, an advocacy
group established in 1979 to assess the state's institutions and their
treatment of at-risk children, as well as urge the shifting of funds from
building jails to community-based prevention. For more information on the
Georgia Alliance for Children, call 404.688.7327 or visit
www.gac.org.
Reservations are required to attend the brunch and can be made by calling
the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel, 404.586.3369. The cost is $18.95 for adults,
$9.25 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children 5 and under (price
does not include tax or gratuity).
