The Sheraton Atlanta Hotel Completes $10 Million Conference Center Addition
March 2005
The Sheraton Atlanta Hotel, located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, has completed the addition of a $10 million Conference Center, according to Managing Director Paul Breslin. The new facility offers 33,000 square feet of function space, bringing the hotel’s meeting and event space to 83,000 square feet.
The new Conference Center, which connects the hotel’s north and south towers, features a 15,000-square-foot ballroom, 8,000 square feet of pre-function space, and four break-out rooms ranging from 1,134 square feet to 1,638 square feet. The new facility, complete with T-1 high-speed Internet access, also boasts street level access for groups that need to transport vehicles or large equipment into the new ballroom.
“Groups will love our new Conference Center,” said Breslin. “The flexibility of the space, as well as our expanded offerings, will provide wonderful options for groups. The new space is perfect for large association conferences, corporate events, exhibitions, and for unique programs like product launches.”
This addition follows $35 million in enhancements at the hotel over the last three years, which included the remodeling of the hotel’s 760 guest rooms, and a renovation of its lobby, two restaurants and bar. Guest rooms and suites feature a stylish new look, Sheraton Sweet SleeperSM Beds and wireless high-speed Internet access. Among the changes at the hotel’s restaurant Collage was the creation of a private “Piedmont Room” for groups or intimate gatherings. The hotel’s signature restaurant, Fandangles, received an elegant new look and now features a private “Wine Room” for small groups. Both restaurants’ private dining rooms offer high-speed Internet T-1 lines, as well as separate sound and lighting systems. The Sheraton Atlanta Hotel’s Martini Bar also received a sleek but casual new look.
Additional offerings at the hotel include a beautiful indoor/outdoor swimming pool and garden area, whirlpool, poolside bar, 24-hour fitness center, full-service business center, concierge, gift shop, and The UPS StoreTM on-site. Guest rooms and suites feature a two-line telephone with voice mail, television with Nintendo®, coffee maker, and complimentary weekday newspaper. A first-class meeting hotel, Sheraton Atlanta Hotel also provides groups with a StarMeeting® Concierge, who is available to assist meeting planners and attendees during every stage of an event.
The Sheraton Atlanta Hotel is known for its exceptional offerings for groups, and was recently awarded Association Meetings magazine’s prestigious “Inner Circle Award” for meetings excellence. The property was the only hotel in Atlanta to receive the distinction, which was based on votes by the magazine’s readers.
